Mr. Tarantino is an associate with the firm. He works on all aspects of the firm’s practice including employment and labour law, civil and commercial litigation, administrative law and human rights. He works closely with the Partners in preparing for hearings and mediations, and assists with matters before both provincial and federal courts and administrative tribunals. Mr. Tarantino is also responsible for managing the firm’s legal education resources and providing updates on important developments in the law.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Tarantino completed his articles as a judicial law clerk at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Toronto. In this position, Mr. Tarantino assisted judges with legal research, writing, and editing of judgments on a wide variety of topics, both procedurally and substantively, related to criminal, civil, administrative, and constitutional law. Mr. Tarantino also assisted judges in preparation for conferences and co-authored an academic article on the history of employment law in Canada. As a clerk, Mr. Tarantino attended court regularly and observed a wide range of proceedings including motions, applications, civil actions, commercial proceedings, criminal trials, and appeals at the Superior and Ontario Courts of Justice, and the Ontario Court of Appeal. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2011.
Mr. Tarantino graduated in 2010 with a Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor and studied international law for a semester at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. While at Windsor, Mr. Tarantino was a leading member of the Criminal Law and Social Justice student group, as well as a member of the Environmental Law Society. Buttressing his academic pursuits, Mr. Tarantino volunteered as a case worker and litigator with Windsor Community Legal Aid. He participated in and won several moot competitions and received a number of academic awards and scholarships including the J.S.D. Tory Writing Award and the University of Windsor Social Justice Fellowship.
